Most dog bites are fear related. Shy dogs or fearful dogs usually react to people based on the person’s smell, size or physical attributes. If a shy or fearful dog feels threaten they will bark. If a dog continues to feel threaten, then fear aggression in dogs lead to dog bites. Many rescue dogs are sent to shelters because they have behavior issues as a result of fear.
How can fear aggression in dogs be remedied? The best remedy for a fearful dog is to first identify the type of people or things that trigger your dog’s fear. On a daily basis as your dog is exposed to these triggers you should give your dog a reward such as dog treats or your dog’s favorite toy. The positive reinforcement associated with the things and people that your dog fears will soon get your dog to no longer be one of the many fearful aggressive dogs. by Joy Randel Joy Randel is the owner of Dazzle Dog Delight, an online store that offers a variety of high quality dog products and accessories from organic dog shampoo to designer dog supplies.
